End of French and Indian War/ Proclamation of 1763
After a long war between multiple powers,Britain gains control over the lands east of the Mississippi River. However, the cost is tremendous, spurring reasons for the Revolutionary War. After this, King George restricts colonists from settling past the Appalachian Mountains. -
The Sugar Act
Parliament's decision to impose taxes on several of the colonies' products, increasing tension. -
Currency Act
The British government took control and placed rules on currency and trade within the colonies. This increased frustration in the colonies. -
Stamp Act
The British Government required certain documents to have a stamp, increasing costs and frustration for the colonies. -
Quartering Act
Due to enforcements by Parliament, colonists are required to quarter british soldiers. -

Townshend Act

Boston Massacre
Colonists were angered by the presence of British troops. An uprising occurred, and there were five deaths. This was a turning point. -
Boston Tea Party
Angered by the Tea Act and the benefits for England, the Americans dumped tea in the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
More restrictions placed on the colonies by Britain. This was the last straw from the colonies. After this, they met at the Continental Congress to form organized opposition. -
