  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and the Indians were fighting against the British for the Ohio River Valley. Britan wanted to remain with world power but, the French were fed up with it. They fought for years but, the British won.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This document was written by King George III. This document didn't let Colonists settle west of the Applachain Mountains. He reserved the land for the Indians since they helped in the French and Indian War. He said that the colonists couldn't settle west of the Applachain Mountains and they couldn't go back to their homes in the Applachain Mountains.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Parliament passed the Stamp Act so the colonists could pay for the French and Indian War. Parliament taxed them on printed paper like newspapers and stamps. Colonists weren't happy since they had no reprasentation in Parliament.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was caused since the colonists were taughting the soldiers to fire. This is what happened. A British soldier was standing outside a Customs House when a colonist taunted him and dared him to fire. The soldier got more soldiers and the colonist got more colonists. The colonists threw snowballs and clubs an the soldiers. Five colonists ended up getting shot.

    The Sons of Liberty led by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere led many patriot to a British boat with crates of tea on it. They did this because the colonists were protesting against the Tea Act. They opened the chests of tea and threw it into the Boston Harbor.

    The First Continental Congress was when all of the colonies reprasentatives, except Georgia, came to Philedelphia, Pennsylvania to discuss their problems with Great Britain. Georgia wasn't their because they needed help with Britain to clear away the Indians.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    In Lexington, British soldiers fought minutemen, outnumbered them, and shot 8 minutemen. Then, at Concord the minutemen snuck up on the British soldiers and shot 100 men. This was called "the shot heard round the world".

    Thomas Jefferson ,with the help of Ben Franklin and John Adams, wrote the Decleration of Independence. They wrote this because they were explainig why they want to break away from Britain. It listed everyone's unalienable rights.

    The Batlle of Saratoga was a huge turning point in the American Revolution. The Continental Army won the battle. This was a turning point since Ben Franklin was in France trying to get their help. Once they knew that the colonies were fighting the British, they pitched in. They gave them their navy and some of their generals. Spain eventually pitched in to, to help.

    Surrender at Yorktown
    This was the end of the Revolutionary War because Lord Cornwallis was surronded by sea and land. Cornwallis had no choice, but to surrender. At the ceremony, Cornwallis had the nerve to not show an send a lower ranked officer. General Washington was mad about this so he did the same.

    The Treaty of Paris was when Britain finally recognized America. Britain knew that America needed its independence at gave them it. But, they put expansion borders of where they can and can't expanded to.
