Australian Gold Rush
The Australian Gold Rush started in NSW, Australia. In 1851, a prospector found flecks of gold in a waterhole near Bathurst, Australia. Not long after, more gold was discovered in Victoria. This started the Gold rush. 500,000 people (also called diggers) hurried over to the gold fields of Australia. SA Women
In south Australia before 1894, only men were allowed to vote. Many people - Men and Women believed that was not right. Many women fought for their rights. Finally, in 1895, South Australian Women gain voting rights. This affects Women because now they get a chance to say what they want to happen in their country.

Federation
Before 1900, there was no such thing as 'Australia.' There were only 6 colonies called New South Wales, Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia. Then on the 1st of January, 1901, the 6 colonies of Australia federated. This affects migrants because they did not get a say.
