The Trail of tears happened right after the Indian removal act when many Indians had to be forced off of their land or killed whilst trying to protect their land. -

The Homestead act gave land to people who qualified and all the people had to do was improve the land so many people went west to get land and start a new life. -

The Transcontinental railroads were completed by 1869 -

And Finally, The Us government in 1890 officially announces that the west has been completely explored.
