    It began in Missouri and ended in northern Oregon. It was about 2,00 miles long. It was used to expand west.

    Andrew Jackson ignored the orders of a treaty with the Cherokee. U.S. troops rounded up about 15,000 Cherokee and put them in prison camps. Local residents burned the native’s homes. Troops then sent the Cherokee west in groups of about 1,000 on a path known now as the Trail of Tears.

    Henry clay created the compromise. This affected New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California, Texas, and western Colorado.
    The compromise suggested the southern half could slaves, and the north wouldn’t.

    The four rules/requirements of the act to acquire the land were, be 21, the head of a family, and improve the property.

    The two companies involved in building it were Durant and the big 4. Each company started their railroad in a different place, one in Omaha and one in Sacramento. This event was important because it showed humanity expanding and evolving.
