The end of the cattle boom it thought to be caused by many cattle in Texas causing fever, or there were too many cattle and the open-range declined due to barbed wire. the Cattle boom lasted though the 1850s. when the Califoria gold rush started because there became a big demand for beef. -

Oklahoma Land Rush
Oklahoma was "unassigned land" so people eager to get western land quickly or "rushed" to Oklahoma for land. Benjamin Harrison, on March 23, 1889, said that land in Oklahoma was open to settlers. -
Closing of the frontier
About year after the Oklahoma Land Rush, the director of the United States Census Bureau announced that the frontier was closed. The announcement impressed Frederick Jackson Turner he presented a paper to the American Historical Association entitled “The Significance of the Frontier in American History.” In it he argued that the experience of the frontier was what distinguished the United States from the Europeans.
