Texans didn't like how Mexico was running things, so they seceded. A war broke out, and Americans helped the Texans. 10 years later Texas joined the union, and a war with Mexico began. -

The area Mexico relinquished to the US in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. It consists of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming. -

Gadsden Purchase
Portion of Mexico bought by America in a treaty signed by US ambassador to Mexico James Gadsden. -

In 1893, a group of mostly American business leaders and residents overthrew Queen Liliʻuokalani , and America annexed Hawaii.
