The Beginning of the Bronze Age.
(This is just informing the reader of the starting point in the time line.)The Bronze age began in 3000BC-1200 BC. It is called this because of the use of bronze and its popularity/usefulness at this time. During this time Bronze was used for nearly everything from arrow tips and spears to shields and chariots it was extremely valuable to them. What is most interesting is that they had the technology and knowledge to bend the bronze, in my own personal opinion that is. -
2680 BCE
Old Kingdom emerges in Egypt 2680-2200BCE
In this era,the third royal dynasty is to rule all of Egypt with its leader,or king,Djoser.Djoser was the first king to commission an enormous tomb to use as his burial grounds once he was dead.This tomb was later to be known as the first Pyramid.There was also another interesting fact and that was during this time their religion emerged with the idea that the king was a God himself and that to not worship him would bring famine across the land.They lasted a long time because they were isolated. -
2200 BCE
The First Intermediate period.2200 BCE
The Egyptians invent a new idea for their religion and new class. With new times ment to goverment ;Now, the people had access to noble titles leaving the noble class to inherite power and land.However this wasn't a througho plan.Eventually the elites would try and take the power from the royal authority.During this time the building of pyramids,palaces,temples ceased. -
2030 BCE
The Middle Kingdom
The Middle Kingdom. The Middle Kingdom was ruled by Mentuhotep II from 2060-2010 BC. The big thing is their change in religion. We talked about how they were seen as Gods but now they were considered half-divine and half-human. They were told to be the connection between heaven and Earth. Their job was to maintain harmony. What's interesting is in this era they encouraged immigrants but insisted that they are settled among Egyptians. And war captives were to help in fields. -
1650 BCE
Foreign Rein 1650 B.C Second Intermidetie
Around 1650 things started stirring up in lower Egypt. A group of Canaanites also is known as the Hyksos dynasty(Meaning Leaders of Foreigners)quickly overthrew the Egyptian Kings and adopted their practices and overall trying to pretend to be Egyptians. The great thing about their rein is how they handled the new material bronze. Back then stone and copper were used for weapons and tools now they were made of more durable items. -
1550 BCE
Kicked Out! New Kingdom Begins
A new Era meant a new Pharoh Ahmose I.As first decree he kicked out the Hyksos from Egypt then he began the new Kingdom the most powerful one to date. With their new technology of bronze made weapons and bows they built a strong army and took all the way into Mesopotamia. During this time Period, religion changed greatly also. They thought it was their job to bring religion to all parts of the world if force if necessary. And after only just 50 years they had captured Canaan and much of Syria. -
1479 BCE
Women can rule to!First Female pharaoh from 1479 to 1458 BC.
With the new kingdom new ideas sprung and whom better to have as the leader then Hatshepsut,the first female Pharoh! Her rule lasted from 1479 to 1458BC;However,before she was Pharoh she was a regent(This is someone who leads til the young king is old enough)But she then stole the title of Pharoh from her stepson.Within her ruling of 20 years, she waged wars and oversaw a period of prosperity.What's interesting is that her stepson tried to erase her from the books some say because of resentment, -
1300 BCE
Phoenicians influence on the World!
1300BC is when the Phoenicians began improving on the work of earlier Canaanites.They formed a syllabic alphabet that was said to be the basis of both the Greek and Roman language.This language was less complex then the symbolic ones and was easier to learn.It was so easy even the normal merchants started learning it with ease.Not only this they created the use of money now merchants didnt have to struggle with lots of good to trade they could use coins! -
1100 BCE
Bronze Age ends and Iron age begins
This is not an event this is notifying of the change of time periods.This is where bronze became less and less popular and iron became more useful for trade as well as weapons and tools. -
600 BCE
Phoenicians Travel the Globe
With the Iron Age brought new technology and people. One of those people was the Phoenicians. They were not people of war instead they are most famed for being travelers and merchants on sea. There greatest feat was when they traveled farther then anyone had ever gone. It is said that they traveled from Africa over the course of three years!I put this on the timeline because the only time it ever happens again was after almost 2000 years. But that's not even their biggest triumph! -
345 BCE
Assyrian P-O-W-E-R one of the most powerful militray forces of its time.
They were equipped with iron weapons. Invented a messanger service to maintain communication and they created the first permanent cavalry along with a large standing army.They even had selecting breading to create powerful war horses so they could use horse archery. There reign was so big is 345-727BC the Assyrians had pushed their borders all the way to the Mediterranean in west Persia.But this caused heavy taxes to be made and because the people hated them they were destroyed. -
CONCLUSION
Overall this is probably my favorite time period.It showed the change in technology and also showed how far we came. From the Egyptians rule to the Assyrian's military might. To the phonetic alphabetic system, it was a very influential time preiod.
