- It is located south of Mesopotamia
- In about 1849BC is was ruled by a dynasty of Amorite kings *After the death of Hammurapi the empire still remained a powerful unit

Olmec Period
- This civilization is located in ancient Mexico.
- People living there started saying that before everything the land was populated by grants.
- Till this day they do not know where the Olmecs came from, or what happened to them.

- The name Mesopotamia comes from the Greek word "between rivers"
- It extended through the Middle East snd Indus Vally

Sumer
- It's considered the cradle of civilization
- Its name Sumer comes from Akkadian which is what is spoken in the North of Mesopotamia
- The Sumerians used to call them selves "the black headed people"
