    1200 BCE the Iron Industry started in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Mali Empire began to establish and uprise through this time period. They started to start selling different materials throughout this industry such as selling; iron, leather, gold, and cotton.

    700 BCE The ancient kingdom of Ghana. During this time, 700 BCE, the ancient kingdom of Ghana was the first to be established at the southern end of the Saharan trade routes. This helped control the traffic in gold and other trading in Europe and Africa.

    500 BCE the beginning of African Sculptures were found when statues of Rok terracotta were made. This created one of Africa’s most popular traditions. This led into the foundation of arts and literature within West Africa.

    400 BCE they started trading with the Mediterranean civilizations
    (gold, cotton, metal, leather). Trading was the main source of wealth and was the process in which people purchased items. This also gave a wider range of items to trade for.

    Ghana Empire was established in 4th century CE. In the 4th century CE Ghana Empire was established. The Ghana Empire end when they commended In 1240 with Mali. That is how Ghana Empire Just became Ghana.

    17th century CE West Africa started to trade with Europe. During 17th century CE West africa started trading minerals, gold, and slaves. The people the Africans traded to the most were the Europeans. The slaves were that most “valuable” to Europeans so they didn’t have to do there on work.

    During WW2 campaigns were made for West Africa’s independence. When this happened it was in the early 1930’s. This helped Africa want to become independent from the other countries within West Africa.

    The development of oil and mineral wealth started soaring. When this happened it was in the early 2000s. The economy started to grow and become a more wealthier area.
