This was Werner's first paper which was considered a breakthough, leading to the first complete formulations of quantum mechanics. In further papers along with Max Born and Pascual Jordan is where quantum mechanics was formed. -

Noble Prize in Physics
The Noble Prize in Physics 1932 was awarded to Werner Karl Heisenberg "for the creation of quantum mechanics, the application of which has, inter alia, led to the discovery of the allotropic forms of hydrogen." source.

World War II, The German Nuclear Bomb
After Germany invaded Poland in 1939, Heisenberg was drafted to work for the Army Weapons Bureau. In 1942 He became the director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute (KWI), in which he took a leading role in Germany's Nuclear research. Though Heisenberg was unsuccessful at creating an Atomic Bomb. There are mixed rumors on weather or not Werner was incompetent or deliberately sabotaged the efforts of his team. In 1945 Heisnberg was captured by an American military intelligence team. -
