Plumbers
Nixon recruits a team of ex CIA and FBI operatives, called "The Plumbers" to investigate the Pentagon Papers incident. On September 9th, they break into Daniel Ellsberg’s office, in attempt to steal records to smear his reputation. Daniel is known as the person who leaked the Pentagon Papers to the press. -

Liddy's team breaks into the Democratic National Committee Headquarters at the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. Bugging the telephones. -
Suspects captured.
Five men are arrested after breaking into the Democratic National Committee Headquarters. In their possession was bugging devices, thousands of dollars, and rolls of film. The White House denied involvement. -
The Washington Post
An article released in the Washington Post revealed that a check for $25,000 earmarked for Nixon's 1972. re-election campaign was deposited into the bank account of one of the men arrested for the Watergate break in. -
