President Nixon becomes paranoid after the Pentagon Papers were published, and he creates a list of people he thinks that will try to hurt his presidency. People on this list were people who publicly disagreed with him and political adversaries. -
Watergate
5 men, the plumbers, were arrested at a break-in at the Watergate building in Washington which was also the Democratic National Committee HQ. They were arrested after an effort to plant electronic bugs. -
President Nixon resigns
After President Nixon learns that his impeachment is imminent, he decides to resign to try to retain some respect. This made President Nixon the first president to resign. -
Nixon is pardoned
President Ford granted Nixon a "full, free, and absolute pardon". This meant that Nixon could not be convicted of the crimes that he committed while in office.
