Washington sent General Arthur St. Clair to the Northwest territory to stop fighting between American settlers and Native Americans. -
Whiskey Rebellion
Farmers in Pennsylvania protested a new tax on the grain to make whiskey. This resulted in Washington sending 13,000 state troops to crush the rebellion. (Hamilton agreed, Jefferson disagreed) -

The British declared war on the French. -
Jay's Treaty
The British agreed to withdraw from American soil. There was no mention of impressment or British interference with American trade. -

The British encouraged the Native Americans to destroy American settlements west of the Appalachian Mountains. -

Gave the Americans free navigation of the Mississippi River and the right to trade at New Orleans. -
