  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    A war fought by French and English in American soil over control of the Ohio River Valley-- English defeated French in1763. Historical Significance: established England as number one world power and began to gradually change attitudes of the colonists toward England for the worse.
    The war also ended in 1763
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    The Stamp Act was a tax put on the American colonies by the British in 1765. It said they had to pay a tax on all sorts of printed materials such as newspapers, magazines and legal documents. It was called the Stamp Act because the colonies were supposed to buy paper from Britain that had an official stamp on it that showed they had paid the tax.

  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Britain passed a series of four laws declaring its authority over the colonies . The Townshend Acts suspended one colonial representiave assembly and also set up strict measures for collecting taxes in colonies
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The colonists started to call the British soldiers names like "lobsters", and "redcoats". The soldiers became angry and started destroying colonists property. The colonists became even more angry and started forming crowds and throwing rocks at the soldiers. British soldiers fired into the crowd killing some colonists.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The British had a plan to try and see where the Americans were at a view and decided to head toward them and attack. Since the americans were low on ammunition William Prescott told them not to fire until they had a sight of the red coats. The British forces were welcomed by heavy fire by the Americans and were forced to retreat. They tried two more times but were hit with heavy fire still. The Americans had ran out of gunpowder and were forced to retreat.
  • Battle of Lexington & Concord

    Battle of Lexington & Concord
    In Lexington 70 Minutemen were lead by captain John Parker who positioned his men for an attack on the red coats. When out of know where a shot was fired and the shot was known as "the shot heard around the world". Nobody knew what side it came from, but it let loose both sides. That day 18 Minutemen lost their lives. After Lexington the British troops continued their march to ward Concord Massachusetts. The word had spread to colonists that the British were on their way to Concord.

    The Declaration of Independence states the principles on which our government, and our identity as Americans, are based. Unlike the other founding documents, the Declaration of Independence is not legally binding, but it is powerful.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown ended in victory for the Americans and Britain realizing that the war is just to costly to continue. This battle was the last recognized large conflict in the Revolutionary war and was the first step King George took in acknowledging the thirteen states' independence.
