Hull's Proclamation
Picture credit:WIlliam Hull is a soldier from Massachusetts who rose to the rank of Lt. Col in the Revolutionary war. He opposed war with Britain at fitst, but later accepted the job, so to speak He raised an army in Ohio to invade Canada. Hull's proclamtion began the War of 1812 by explaining that America would no longer accept the injustices of their former mother country, Britain. -
Surrender of Detroit
Photo credit:SIr Isaac Brock, along with Tecumseh fought the US Army at FOrt Detroit. The US Army, lead by William Hull, surrendered Detroit to the Native Americans and British. -
SIr Isaac Brock: "The Hero of Upper Canada"
Picture credit:Isaac Brock was a British military leader who first fought in the American Revolution. In August 1812, he acclaimed his first major War of 1812 victory by capturing Fort Detroit. He later teamed up with Tecumseh, a Native American . Brock also lead the next major American defeat t Queenston Heights, where he died. We withdrew from this battle the next month. -
Laura Secord becomes a hero
Photo credit:Laura Secord is a Canadian who found her husband bleeding on the battlefield, brought him home and nursed him. On June 21, 1813, American soldiers forced her to serve them dinner and discussed plans to ambush a British Lt. FitzGibbon at Beaver Dams. She warned the British, The Americans surrendered at this battle, signed a treaty, and the AMerican/Canadian border has been peaceful since. -
Battle of Lake Erie

Tecumseh Killed
Photo credit:Tecumseh was an Indian chief. He united the Native Americans of the Mississippi River Valley to fight US soldiers during the Battle of Thames. His brother, Tenskwatawa, fought in the Battle of Tippacanoe, which was an American victory. Tecumseh was killed at the Battle of Thames, which was also an American victory. -
Lt. Colonel Charles de Salaberry
Photo credit:Lt. Colonel Charles de Salaberry is a British army officer made famous in the battle of Chateauguay. He was stationed in lower Canada. He repeled the American attempt to attack Montreal. He blockaded American reoops to make his army look larger, so they retreated. -
Battle of Horseshoe Bend
Photo credit:The Battle of Horseshoe Bend was a US battle against the Creek tribe in Tennesse. The US gained a lot of the land. The US was lead by Andrew Jackson who would soon be a war hero, and later a president. This was considered a Native American massacre.
Fun fact: A baby was found on the battlefield being held by his deceased monther, and Andrew Jackson adopted him. -
Battle of Washington DC

This was an act o revenge for the US burning down the Canadian capital. Dolly Madison became known for saving George Wahington's portrait. -
Seige of Fort McHenry
Photo credit:The Battle of Fort McHenry was an American vvictory at a Baltimore fort. The battle itself isn't very significant, but hwta came of it is. Francis Scott Key wrote a poem which is now known as the "Star Spangled Banner," the USA's national anthem. -
Battle of New Orleans
Photo credit:This is a famous battle for three main reasons. It was fought 15 days after the Treaty of Ghent ended the war, it was the last battle associated with the war, and it made Andrew Jackson a war hero and put him on the path to become a future president. This was an American victory.
