USS Constitution gets a Morale Boosting Win
On the Morning of August 19 1812 the us ship USS Constitution got a victory over the inferior British HMS Guerriere. This victory is important after the victory the ship returned to Boston with news of the victory, which turned to be an important morale boost. -
BRITAIN DECLARES WAR!!
Britain decided to make the war official by providing a formal declaration of war on January 9th 1813. -
James Maddison Inagurated for 2nd Presidential term
On March 4 James Maddison was inaugurated for his second presidential hold making him the first president to be elected during war time. -
Royal Marines burn the city of Havre de Grace, Maryland
On May 3rd 1813 Royal Marines landed in Maryland and burned down the city of Havre de Grace, Maryland. Although they were met with local resistance and Maryland Militia Men it was not enought to stop the raid. -
US CAPITAL IS BURNED DOWN!!
The US capitol of Washington DC was raided and burned down by a British Force led by General Robert Ross. They then proceeded to burn down the city including the White House. President James Madison was evacuated to a near by Maryland town. -
Treaty of Ghent is signed
The United states and Britain Sign a Peace Treaty in Ghent Belgium to put an end to the conflict. It was signed by King George IV and James Madison. -
US and British Skirmishes continue
There were many smaller encounters between the two Nations, this was because not everyone was aware of the treaty. One such encounter was between the USS Constitution and the HMS Cyane and HMS Levant. The ships were not aware of peace.
