Hull’s Proclamation
General William Hull issues a proclamation to the residents of Canada trying to get them to join the Unites States forces to fight against the British but it turn out it didn't work. It was an attempt and invasion of Canada. It turn out to be an disaster. -
Siege of Detroit
Hull's which was the governor of Michigan Territory, at Detroit with some 1600 American troops. Hull's cocern was his vulnerable supply line. On August 2 1812, Tecumseh, Captain Muir and Roundhead took a force of First Nations and about 100 redcoats across the Detroit River from Amherstburg, landing near the Wyandot village of Brownstown.(James Marsh) On August 13 1812, Isaac Brock arrived at Fort Amherstburg with 300 men. He plan to attack detroit. Out come of the war, Hull surrender to Brock. -
Battle of Queenston Heights
It was the first major battle of 1812. It was the second battle of American trying to invade Canada. Isaac Brock, General of British forces, defend the lines of forces. Major General Stephen Van Rensselaer was leading the American forces into Canda to defeat Isaac Brock forces and take part of Canada. Isaac Brock forces were out numbered by the Americans but still was able to defeat the American forces from the support of British artillery and reinforcement. At the end Isaac Brock was killed. -
Battle of Raisin River
It was a battle between Americans and British, and Native American forces near River Raisin in Frenchtown, Michigan Territory. The purpose of American were trying to retake Detroit. Americans were defeated on a suprise counterattack by the British and Native American forces. Three hundred ninety-seven Americans were killed and 100 were taken as prisoner. British and Native American Forces has won the battle and hold off the American forces from taking back Detroit. -
Laura Secord Success
Laura Secord who married James Secord, was a Canadian hero. She was known as a hero to many canadain because she save them from getting a surpise attack from the America. Laura had to travel/walk 20 miles out of American-occupied territory to warn British forces of an impending American attack. -
Battle of the Thames
The Battle of the Thames was a huge victory for the American. General William Henry Harrison led his army of 3,500 American troops to fight against the British and Native Amercan forces in Moraviantown. Colonel Henry Procter led his 800 troops along with Tecumseh 500 troops. The result led American a huge victory while Tecumesh was defeated and killed on the batttlefield. -
Battle of the Chateauguay
A British Commander Charles de Salaberry led his 1,630 troops to hold off the American Commander Wade Hampton with his 2,600 from envading into Canada. The American were trying to invade Canada to take land and destory the Indain tribes in lower Canada. Charles de Salaberry was responsible of defending lower part of Canada. The result of the war, British forces hold off the American forces making the American retreat back into America. -
The Battle of Chippewa
The battle was taken places in Upper-Canada. American commander Jacob Brown order 3,500 troops to invade Upper-Canada. His was goal to defeat the British forces/bases in Upper-Canada before more British troops arrival. British commander Phineas Riall order his 2,100 troops to defend their ground from the American troops taking over Upper-Canada. The battle was in a open field and lasted about 3 hours. The result of the battle, was a huge Victory for the Americans defeating Phineas Riall forces. -
Battle of Bladensburg
Robert Ross was the general of the British forces leading his army into Washington, D.C. He sent 4,500 men with him. Along the way into Washington, Ross has battle agains the American forces that was led by William H. Winder. Winder had 6,500 men with him to defeat Ross forces. But it turn out that WInder was defeated by Ross. It made a clear path for Ross to match into Washington D.C. -
Burning of Washington
After the battle of Bladensburg, British forces who was led by Robert Ross, occuiped Washington D.C. burning down the White House, U.S. Capitol, and U.S. government facilities. This was a huge victory for the British. President James Madison escaped before the invasion was taken places. After the British Burn the city down, they knew that they can't hold the city. Robert Ross ordered his troop to withdraw leaving a mess to the American. -
Battle of Lake Champlain
The battle was also known as "The Battle of Pittsburgh." This battle ended the invasion of the Northren states of America. British commander George Prevost and Naval commander George Downie led a group of ships/forces to attack the American soil. American general Thomas Macdonough led his group of Naval to attack the British Naval while General Alexander Macomb defend the land. The result was a huge win for American victory. -
Treaty of Ghent
On this day, it was the day when the war of 1812 was coming to an end. Ameican and British representatives came together at Ghent, Belgium. They came together to agree on a peace treaty that would restore the relationship between both of the nations. Restore the lands that was given before the war and therefore, no one from both nations lost a territory.
