The U.S had taken Wake island as a defensive outpost that the Japanese wanted. The Japanese attacked the island attempting to overtake it. The Japanese bombed Wake Island on a daily basis, once it had turned into a battle place.

Bataan
A 66 mile death march of prisoners in the Philippines. Bataan Death March was constructed by the Japanese military to force prisoners of war to head to internment camps. The U.S sent a military to fight the Japanese, the Japanese surrendered.

Battle of Coral Sea
Battle of Coral Sea marked the first air and sea battle in history. Allied Rear Admiral Frank. J Fletcher, led the attack against the Japanese. The Japanese intended to land and attack Port Moresby in New Guinea, but the Allies stopped this.

Battle of Midway
The battle of midway was a huge battle between the U.S Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy. Japan wanted to establish superiority in the Western Pacific. The U.S did not want this so they planned a surprise attack on the Japanese. This attack was aimed at Midway Island. (Video on website)

Battle of Guadalcanal
6,000 U.S Marine Soldiers launched an assault on the Japanese. This Island had a strong naval and air support by the Japanese. The island was seized by Allied powers in the first 36 hours.

Leyte Gulf
The Allied powers landed on the Philippine island in October and the Japanese wanted to converge 3 Naval forces. The Japanese successfully diverted the U.S Third Fleet but was later destroyed by the U.S Seventh Fleet.

Battle of Manila
The Battle of Manila took place around the city of Manila. Manila was opened by U.S General Douglas McArthur, and the Japanese rear Admiral Sanji was given an assignment to defend the city at all costs. The Japanese were soon attacked by the U.S, and lost control of Manila.

Battle of Okinawa
This attack was part of the American fifth-fleet, Operation Iceberg as a final push towards the Japanese. The Japanese knew if they lost this battle Japan would fall. The island of Okinawa consisted of dense foliage, hills and trees. The Japanese were conquering down waiting for the Americans to approach, which they did and The Americans were fired upon. Tokyo Bay
The final surrender of the Japanese Empire. The United States, General Douglas MacArthur, and the Japanese Empire Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu signed surrender documents. This brought an end to the Japanese rampage.

Battle of Tarawa
The Battle of Tarawa took place when the U.S tried to take the heavily fortified, Japanese-held island of Betio in the Tarawa Atoll in the Gilbert Islands. The U.S attempted to land crafts on the island, but this failed because it was low tide and the U.S ships got caught on the rocks. The U.S eventually made it onto the island and took it from the Japanese. (video on website)
