Walt was born in Chicago, Illinios to Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney. He was one of five children, four boys and one girl. The Alice Comedies
Alice Comedies were a series of short films which featured Alice (a live-action girl) and Julius (an animated cat). Walt animated all the films by himself while his brother, Roy filmed all the live-action shots. Since they didn't have film to waste most scenes were only shot once. A Disney Romance
Walt and Lillian (Bounds) Disney were married on July 13, 1925. They first met when Lillian applied to be an ink-and-paint artist. She then worked her way up to becoming Walt's personal secretary. "I was not very artisitc at all, and I was not very good at inking and painting," Lilly admitted, "Later, Walt made me his secretary, but I made too many mistakes when he was dictating. The Life of Oswald
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was Walt's first iconic charcter. He was created while Disney was working for Universal Pictures so when he left he wasn't allowed to take Oswald with him. He was also the first Disney character to generate merchandise like candy bars, stencil sets, and buttons. Mickey Mouse's Makes His First Debut
Mickey Mouse first appears in Steamboat Willie. Mickey Mouse was made when Walt's first character, Oswald, started tanking. So they shortened Oswald's ears, added some extra padding around the middle, ad turned the rabbit into a mouse. Mickey Mouse was orginally going to be called Mortimer. Silly Symponies Cartoon Features
Disney first started using technicolor during the production of Silly Symphonies Cartoon Features. Walt held the patent for technicolor making it so that he was the only one able to make colored cartoons. He also used technicolor in Flowers and Trees which won the studio it's first Academy Award.

Premier of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Snow White was the first full length feature production. Not only did Snow White "prove to be one of the greatest cinematic accomplishments of all time" it also became one of the highest-grossing movies of its era. Motherless Misconception
Many people believe that the reason maternal figures are absent in Walt Disney's films is because he felt responsible for his mother death. Disneyland Opens
The $17 million theme park was built in Anaheim, California. Disneyland now hosts 14 million vistitors a year, who spend $3 billion. When they first open they hit a few hiccups when too many people showed up and they ran out of food and drinnks. Disney's Death
Walt was diagnosed with lung cancer during the construction of Walt Disney World. He died before he could see the end result. Walt's brother, Roy, carried out the plans for the Florida theme park which opened on October 1, 1971.
