Property ownership and tax requirements are gone from voting requirments by 1850. Almost every white male can vote. Connecticut adds the nations first literacy test to vote. Massachusetts follows. -
The 15th Amendment is Added
The fifteenth amendment is past giving voting rights to past slaves and protects the voting rights for every adult male, black or white. -
The 19th Amendment
The 19th Amendment promises Womens Suffrage. -
The 23rd Amendment
The 23rd Amendment allows voters in the District of Columbr to vote in Presidential elections. -
The 24th Amendment
Bans the poll tax as a rquirement in government elections. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
Martin Luther King Jr. is drawing attention to African-Americans Voting Rights leading to the Voting Rights Act which protects the rights of minority voters and eliminating unjust tests. -
The 26th Amendment
The 26th Amendment makes voting age 18 for if you are old enough to go to war, you are old enough to vote.
