13th amendment
The 13th amendment abolishes slavery. This event is important because the civil war just ended they were fighting to have or to not have slaves. In the end slaves were freed. -
15th amendment
The 15th amendment give minority males the right to vote. This is important because it gives certain people that couldn't vote the right to vote. -
Laws take voting rights from African-Americans
This is important because whites didn't want their former slaves to vote.So they made laws that they had to take test and pass to vote. -
Supreme court rules literacy tests constitutional
This matters because again the whites didn't want former slaves to vote. So they made literacy tests that African-Americans couldn't pass even if they got all the questions right. -
Grandfather clause unconstitutional
The whites made a law stating if your grandfather couldn't vote you cant. -
19th amendment
The 19th amendment gives women to vote. This matters because woman haven't been treated equal during those times either. -
Poll Taxes
The supreme court rules polls taxes constitutional. This matters because former slaves didn't have any money. -
24th amendment
The 24th amendment outlaws poll taxes and allows former slaves to be able to vote.
