13th Amendment
This event was important because it is what caused Voting Rights. This event also emancipated many slaves and contributed to the formation of our country. -
15th Amendment
The 15th Amendment lead to increased voting rights by allowing all minority men vote. This also meant that African Americans were granted the right to vote. -
Laws to Take Voting Rights from African-Americans
Taking voting rights away from African Americans lead to many more amendments and supreme court decisions later on. This made Voting Rights larger and more detailed. -
Literacy Tests Ruled Constitutional
Literacy tests being called constitutional is important because it caused many African Americans a disability to vote. It was a disability because the state made the test and could choose whether the answers be right or wrong by looking at the color of your skin. -
"Grandfather Clause" Unconstitutional
The Grandfather Clause being ruled unconstitutional lead to increased voting because many grandsons of slaves were granted (now) the ability to vote. If your grandfather was a slave you couldn't vote, but that was overturned and increased voting. -
19th Amendment
The 19th amendment lead to increased voting because it let the other half of our country the ability to vote. Many women could now vote for their presidents. -
