The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was in Montgomery. It was a non-violent protest. The leaders were MLK Jr. and 60 other ministries. In conclusion The SCLC prepared African Americans for the struggle for equal rights. -
LIttle Rock Nine
The Little Rock Nine was in Little Rock, Arkansas. National guards blocked the entrance so nine blacks couldn't enter the school. The leaders were the nine students and mainly Elizabeth Eckford in result the students entered the school. -
Greensboro Sit-Ins
The Greensboro Sit-In was in Greensboro. There was a lot of Civil Disobedience. Because of the sit-in the Greensboro lunch counter changed its policies and began welcoming African American customers. -
Freedom Riders
The Freedom Riders took place from Washington D.C to Alabama. It was a non-violent protest and was held by 13 African Americans. In result Supreme Court ruled prohibiting racial discrimination on buses and in transportation facilities. -
Birmingham, Alabama
This event had huge protest. Martin Luther King, Jr. And The SCLC played a huge part in this event. Kids and adults when to protest. And the police were ready. Blacks were sprayed with water hoses and bit by dogs just to be treated equal. Because of this all blacks and white were beginning to be treated equal. -
THe CIvil RIghts Act of 1965
The Civil Rights Act of 1965 was in the South. Some of the methods were laws. And a leader of this act eas Lyndon Johnson. This act prohibited discrimination against blacks in employment voting and public accomodations. -
Selma, Montgomery, Bloody Sunday
This event was a protest in Selma, Montgomery. In this event 600 machers were atttacked by police with billy clubs and tear gas. In conclusion, blacks were allowed to vote. -
King's Assasination
Martin Luther King, Jr. was assasinated in Memphis Tennesse. There were a lot of riots that led to his death. -
Wilmington Riots
There was a lot of violent protest deaing with The Wilmington Riots. There were plenty of African Americans involved. This case was investigated but never proven.
