Space between two pages that is where the pages join in a book or magazine. -
Infographic
Visual information like a chart or graph. -
Cut
Any picture or graphic that is placed in the text or on the page. This is a cut of a demo site. -
Byline
The byline is the the line, usually right after the article title, that says who wrote the article or who edited it. -
cutlines
Also called the caption. Words that describe a picture and go by it. "A beef chili infused with red chiles, chocolate and beer for bold flavor." -
Subhead
Part of an article title that gives more information. Sometimes it is under the heading or in smaller font. Here it is, "Great in Theory, but Hard to Carry Out." -
Copy
Copy is what the reporter writes. -
Editorialize
This is to put the writer or editor's opinion into the story. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes not as much. In this paragraph from NY Times, it shows how an old paper described someone.
