Meeting of Estates in Versaille
Each estate had a vote, which angered the thrid estate because the first and second would always vote together, never giving the third estate a voice. The meeting was held to try and give more power to the third estate, but the king wouldn't allow it. -
Tennis Court Oath
This was the first opposition against Louis XVI, the third estate wanted a bigger vote then the first and second because there were more people. They said that they wouldn't seperate until France has a constitution. -
Creating the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
Defines individual and collective rights of all the estates. Marquis de Layfette was one of the people putting the declaration together. -
Constitution Accepted
King Louis XVI accepted the constitution proposed to him earlier in the year. -
The Reign of Terror
Robespierre was the leader of the Reign of Terror, which ended on July 28, 1794. It was a period of violence that occured after the French Revolution, people were angry because of political differences. There were around 16,594 deaths from the guilletine reported at this time.
