Navy Football
After the annual Navy and Army football game on July 4, 1945 four Navy players got together for a picture. From this picture you can get a clear picture of what foot ball uniforms looked like at the time. They wore leather helmets and small shoulder pads with their jerseys on top. Players during this time did not have the best protection. Many players suffered from concussions and other types of trauma to the head. The NFL started in the 1920s, but this is what was worn up until the 1950s -
