Tet Offensive
On a Buddhist holiday called the Tet, North Vietnamese and Vietcong soldiers lauched an attack on every major metropolitan center in South Vietnam. The U.S. military struck back, gaining back most of the lost land and inflicting twice the casualities as we had suffered. -
Riots at Democratic National Convention
In Chicago, 10,000 people protested the Vietnam war were met by police force, such as mace, beatings, and shouting matches. All of this was televised, and support was rapidly decreasing. -
Kent State Massacre
A peace protest on Kent State's campus got out of hand. Police shot two student protesters and two innocent bystanders. -
Pentagon Papers Published
Leaked information on what was actually happening in Vietnam was published. The credability gap was revealed and this paper was known for giving real information that couldn't be found otherwise.
