    North Vietnamese patrol boat fired on the USS Maddox which was far into North Vietnamese water. No American killed.

    The U.S. military raided this village after information that it was linked to the Viet Cong. Hundreds if innocent villagers were killed as a result and the village was destroyed aswell.
