    Domino Theory coined- Eisenhower - inlight of Vietnam
    Eisenhower created a phrase that would forever be remembered in the Cold War. He claimed that the fall of Indonesia to communism could call for a domino affect that would spread across Southeast Asia.
  • Geneva Accords

    Geneva Accords
    This is basically a collection of documents that stated that the French would be withdrawing their troops from Northern Vietnam. This changed the course of the war of Vietnam greatly.
  • Assassination of Diem

    Assassination of Diem
    The assassination of Ngo Dinh Diem caused a large amount of chaos for a small amount of time, but after the reactions settled people weren't mad that it happened. Diem had caused very large amounts of chaos to take place in Vietnam at the time.
  • Gulf of Tonkin Resolution

    Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
    This resolution basically allowed President Johnson to do anything he wished to do in order to keep the safety and security of Southeast Asia. This was a huge reason we were able to stop the spread of communism.

    Due to fear that Communism would spread to South Vietnam, the US joined the war of Vietnam. This event is significant because it signifies the start of a war.

    A group of American soldiers killed almost an entire village of Vietnamese citizens for no reason. It was a tragic event that the US should be ashamed of.

    This was a policy in which Nixon wanted the US to train the Vietnamese and teach them how to defend themselves in hopes that eventually the US would no longer be needed for assistance in Vietnam.

    A shooting in which the Ohio National Guard killed 4 students and wounded 9 others who were participating in a peace rally in hopes that the war of Vietnam would come to an end.

    This was an event in which almost 1200 adult workers attacked around 1000 demonstrators affiliated with the student strike of 1970.

    The Christmas bombings were retaliatory bombings of North Vietnam from the US that resulted in Operation Linebacker 2 and the small but prevalent victory of the Northern Vietnamese.
