First U.S casualties
In 1959 American millitary advisors were killed in vietnam this was the first casulties of Americans. -
extra aid
Our president at the time of the Vietnman war was John F. Kennedy. In 1961 he agreed to send extra aid to South Vietnam. He sent 1000 more us military advisors who helped train the South Vietnamese soldiers. -
Rebellion of government
In response to Ngo Dinh Diem ways of government buddhists monk commited suicide. A buddhist monk set himself on fire as a way of protest. He sat medditating on the side of a busy rode in Saigon, as he burned to death as others watched. -
President Diem was killed in a military coup
President Ngo Dinh Diem and his brother were takin into custody of the military and were later killed. There death meant a better government for South Vietnam but it also created chaos politcally. -
Cut off
As of August 15th 1973 all funding into south vietnam including sending troops to vietnam would no longer be available. Nixon was not sending anymore support to continue this war. -
Coming to terms
On January 27th, 1973 leaders in Vietnam and our U.S president (Nixion) came to terms in signing the cease fire agreement. This gave them 60 days for soldiers to come out of Vietnam -
War was over for the U.S
As of March 29th all American troops withdrew from Vietnam. South and North Vietnam kept fighting but the United states was no longer involved. To this day 1,642 are unaccounted for from the vietnam war.
