    The French-Indochina War was fought between the Viet Minh and France. Caused by the declared independence of Ho Chi Minh. Since the French had greater number of forces, the Viet Minh chose to camp out in local remote area to where the French could not attack as well because the area was unfamiliar. They Viet Minh had the upper hand with the element of surprise. Ended with the creation of the 17th parellel. (1945-1954)
