The Vietcong attacked over 100 towns and cities, 12 air bases, and killed five americans. This lasted for a month before the US and South Vietnam were able to gain back control -
My Lai Massacre
US platoon had massacred many innocent civilians in the village of My Lai while searching for Vietcong rebels. They didn't find any sign of the enemy but rounded up the villagers anyway. They shot elderly, women, and children. The man in charge William Calley Jr. was imprisoned for his leadership to kill anything that breathed. -
Kent State Shooting
A massive protest of against the invasion of Cambodia at Kent State University damaged property. The mayor called the National Guard who fired into the crowd and killed four people in response to the students throwing rock at them. Two of the dead hadn't even been participating in the protest.
