    Ho Chi Minh Declares an Independent Vietnam
    Ho Chi Mihn forms the Viet Mihn, League for the Independence of Vietnam, to fight Japan and the French colonial administration.
    Japan withdrew its forces leaving the Emperor Bao Di in control of an independent Vietnam.
    Viet Hinh forces rose up and siezed the northern city of Hanoi, declaring a Democratic Republic of Vietnam, with Ho Chi Mihn as president.
