Fought the War
The war was fought in Vietnam. The significance was the war was here and was named after Vietnam. The war didn't start specifically on this day, but a lot of preevents started here before the fighting started. This is a map of Vietnam. -
Axis Powers of the War
The axis powers were North Vietnam, China, and Russia. They were the powerhouses of this war and that is why they came together and won the war eventually. This picture of soldiers moving towards combat in Vietnam. -
Gulf of Tonkin
North Vietnam attacked two United States destroyers that were sitting in the international waters. This is significant becuase at the time the United States was just roaming around the seas. This is one of the destoryers that was attacked in the Gulf. -
Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
United States passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. This resolution to promote maintenance of international peace and serenity. In this picure is where the Gulf of Tonkin took place. -
Operation Rolling Thunder
This was an aerial attack on North Vietnam. This was put into play so that they could destroy North Vietnam transportation, industrial base, and air defenses. They wanted to stop people from going to South Vietnam. This is the aerial view of bombs being dropped on North Vietnam. -

United States and the United Nations were together and fighting against the Axis. In this picture it is the some of the United States Army arriving to Vietnam. -
Tet Offensive
North Vietnam join Viet Cong for Tet Offensive to attack South Vietnam cities and towns. Ho Chi Minh thought this would end the war, but obviously the way the war went it did not end the war. In this picture it is the North Vietanamese taking South Vietanamese hostage. -
Mai Lai
This was an attack on South Vietnam by the United States. They killed hundreds of innocent villagers. This was important because many of the United States soldiers with criminal offenses because a lot of the women they gang raped and mutilated their bodies. In this picture are of some of the villagers that were killed. -
Troops
The United States troops reached an all time high of 540,000. Having this many people over there took a lot of people away from their families, many soldiers didn't even return. If they did they were very different people because of chemicals they used in this war. It affected them mentally. In this picture there are United States troops set up ready for attack. -
Richard Nixon
President Richard Nixon in this photo, orders the first of many troops to withdraw from the war. He wanted to start bringing people back home to their families and get out of the crazy war. -
Breaking News
The people in the United States find out what happened during the Mai Lai Massacre. This was tragic to the United States because people in the States didn't realized we were capable of being so reckless during wars. -
Cambodia
This is the map of Cambodia. President Nixon ordered the troops to attack Cambodia. This attracted nationwide protest. -
Easter Offensive
In this picture is the demilitzed zone were nobody went during the war. North Vietnam crossed this zone at the 17th parallel and attacked South Vietnam known as the Easter Offensive. -
Paris Peace Accord
This was signed to cease fire and stop the war. -
United States
The United States had the last of their troops withdrawn from the war. They had them home and safe to their families. -
Assult
There was one last assult on South Vietnam from North Vietnam. This is important because it led to the end of the war. -
Surrender
South Vietnam finally surrenders to the communists and this is the final step of the war. It is now ended and North Vietnam won.
