    50,000 U.S. troops were sent in to fight the Vietcong. This was the first sustained American assault on the North Vietnamese.

    Over 80,000 Vietcong troops surprise attacked nearly every major metropolitan center in South Vietnam. The U.S. troops morale decreased greatly.

    American Soldiers killed 300-500 villagers including women and children.

    Kent State Massacre
    Students were protesting violently that Nixon was expanding the war. Soldiers in the National Guard shot and killed four students while wounding others.

    Fall of Saigon
    North Vietnamese forces attacked the South Vietnam capital of Saigon. They took Saigon and the war ended.
