Tet Offensive
During the buddhist holiday of Tet the Vietcong surprise attacked South Vietnam. The Vietcong also attacked 12 U.S. air bases. -
My Lai Massacre
While searching for Vietcong rebels, a US platoon found the village of My Lai. Finding no sign of the enemy, the US soldiers rounded up the villagers and shot more than 200 inocent citizens. -
Vietnamization
The US slowly withdrew their soldiers from South Vietnam so that the South Vietnamese would have a more active part in the war. -
Kent State Student Shot
Durring a protest at Kent State University against the Vietnam war, a student was shot and killed after some other students began throwing rocks at the national guard who were protecting the school.
