  • The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution

    The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution
    After being attacked,The Resolution was approved by Congress and allows President Johnson to, "take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression."
    Johnson then proceeds to wage war on North Vietnam.

    After a US Marine barracks was attacked several bombing campaigns against North Vietnam, were set into motion including Operations Flaming Dart, Rolling Thunder, and Arc Light. These bombings lasted 3 years.
