A Bet
Movies Started with a bet. A man bet 25,000 if at one point, when a horse is running, all its feet lift off the ground. They lined up a few cameras and took picture one after another. Later when they went to see the results they noticed that if they looked at the pictures one after the other it looked kike the horse was actually moving, and that is how "moving image" started. -
The Kinetoscope Parlor
After the discovery they opened places named kinetoscope parlors. People went there to watch "moving images". The disadvantage was that only one person could watch them at a time. -
Edison and his greed
The idea was to have more people watch the movies at a time. But Edison wanted all the glory to himself. He had produced a projector but didn't want to tell anyone because he was making money by selling the peephole kinetoscopes. -
Cinematographe
The Lumiere brothers where the ones who figured out how to make a projector, so they started to show short movies in a small Paris cafe. They did what Thomas Edison didn't want to do and probably was never going to do.
