Shigeru Miyamoto. He still lives on in the spirit of gaming.
Shigeru Miyamoto. He's the creator of Mario, as well as a designer/manager/producer of many games. He has also helped with Legend of Zelda, but let's back up a bit.His first project he did with Nintendo was Color TV Racing 112, and a Blockbuster Color TV Game.
Anyways, I don't have enough room to do much detail, but he has created many successful franchises, like Star Fox, Mario, Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and so much more.
He may be gone, but if he were here today, he'd be playing games. Right?

The earliest computer game made was called 'Tennis for 2.' Besides for being one of the first computer games ever made made, there's honestly nothing really special about it. It's pretty much like Pong nowadays: Some people know about it, but don't acknowledge it for nothing else besides existing.
  • The epilogue (Kinda)

    The epilogue (Kinda)
As you will see down below, the first 'official' home video game console was called the Magnavox Oddyssey. However, before this, there was a prototype called the 'brown box.' It got this name because, well, it was a brown box, and apparently no one had creativity back then. So basically, THIS is the first home video game console made.
  • The beginning

    The beginning
The first video game console ever made was something called the Magnavox Odyssey. It was a box with 2 dials on the side and a RESET button. The very first video game is PONG, something that many people know. Also, since video game programming was something that developers were inexperienced with, there was no sound for it's games.
  • Only Quicksilver could make this look cool

Only Quicksilver could make this look cool
I guess for being the first ever console game, it's not bad. Heck, even my mom said that she thought it was the coolest thing ever. Still, good things must come to an end.
Except Final Fantasy. Sony will never let it die.
  • The end of video games (Not)

The end of video games (Not)
Video games today is huge, am I right? Well, believe it or not, there was a time where video games almost went extinct!
The reason that this happened has 3 main reasons. 1. Companies were making too many game consoles and bad games. 2. E.T. The people making this only had 6 weeks to make and test the game before shipping it out. They literally buried millions of this into a landfill in mexico. The last reason is computers. It's prices were lower than a game console, so consumers jumped on board.
  • The golden age

    The golden age
The thing that saved video games was the NES. It pulled people back into the gaming world, and introduced the all famous game Mario Bros. This wasn't the only great system, though. This gen. introduced the Sega SG-1000, and Sonic's Debut game was made. There are other amazing games that were made too, like Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Pac man, etc. So no, this isn't the golden age, but this era introduced the start of what will impact the gaming world. (Plus, Megaman!)

    Viewer discretion advised
Some may think ratings as an everyday thing, but this is a pretty vital role in gaming. Gaming is great, but some things can badly influence kids. I mean, how would you react to 8 year olds playing GTA? It's a great thing if kids love video games, but there's boundaries that us people should follow.
  • Rise of the Playstation

    Rise of the Playstation
The Playstation made it's debut in 1994, and made some hit games that people are all over about. The most popular one would probably be Final Fantasy VII. This game was so popular, that when Sony said they were gonna remake it, it crashed the internet. Literally, the entire, internet. There are some other well known games too, like Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, etc. Seriously, Playstation is awesome.
  • Keep on moving foward

    Keep on moving foward
This era was one of discs and hard drives, but Nintendo stuck to it's guns and kept using cartridge systems, leading up to the N64. This next gen. console produced some memorable games, such as Ocarina of time, Super Smash Bros, Mario 64 and many others. This system was another huge hit, and some games were remade later on, like Ocarina of Time. Some old characters also hit the new systems, like New Super Mario Bros. 2, or Hyrule Warriors.
  • Mobile still sucked back then

    Mobile still sucked back then
In 1997, a game called Snake went mobile. And no, it wasn't metal gear. Still, it did make mobile games known to the world. After that, developers made what was known as the WAP to connect devices to the internet. It was basically a small internet web to send data to your phones. Again, not great, but it was decent considering what they did in that time period.
  • And people why kids are violent nowadays

And people why kids are violent nowadays
Seriously, where has humanity gone to?
Sigh. It IS a success, and very popular in society. Still, it's beyond crude, and can negatively affect kids. Seriously, kids have committed crime because of GTA. Not to completely hate it, but just-why?! Why do people make these games?
  • A decade ago

    A decade ago
The Playstation 2 was released in the year 2000. Along with the new dual shock, it was another big success with us gamers. With this addition, Playstation had set it's place in the gaming world, and still goes strong to this day. Here's a few big hits for this system: Prince of Persia, Sands of Time: Gutair Hero 2: and Persona 3 and 4, some of my all time favorite games. Seriously, go play them.
  • The gamesquare- I mean cube

    The gamesquare- I mean cube
Nintendo finally evolved into the age of discs with the new GameCube. Again, major success. In fact, the gamecube controllers are still hitting the stocks. Also, more popular games because why not?
There's Super Smash Bros. Melee, which is fun: LOZ Twilight Princess, my personal favorite Zelda game; Metroid Prime, an awesome series; And Sonic Heroes, a classic and great sonic game. Dang it Sonic Boom, why?!?!
  • OBJECTION!

    OBJECTION!
Phoenix Wright, the game that has lived longer than Megaman.
But seriously, this was a fun game. It's a trilogy with 3 sequels, and 2 spin offs.
This game is about lawyers. It's an RPG and puzzle game. It has new and memorable characters, an amazing story that grows with each game, and music that you'll listen to over and over again. Trust me, this is a game that people love.
  • The hype? I dunno

    The hype? I dunno
The World of Warcraft. I've never played this, or even know how the gameplay works, but it's so popular that I had to put this on. What I DO know is that it went online in 2004, 13 years ago. I also know that it's an MMORPG game, and got a CRAZY ton of people at the tournament last year. Still, probably not gonna play this game myself.-
  • Take a few steps back

    Take a few steps back
In 2005, the xbox 360 came out. There are many gamers with it to this day. Also, a year later, 2 game consoles hit the shelves and made it's mark in the gaming world:
    The Wii and Playstation 3.
These 3 consoles formed a new era of home console gaming, and is only growing as time goes on. A few favorite games for these 2 systems (Never got the 360) Consist of Uncharted, an all time legend; New Super Mario Bros (Warning: Ruins friendships;) And old console games that you could download on the wii.
  • Coolest sword ever

    Coolest sword ever
I actually never heard of Shulk until Super Smash Bros. was releasing the character trailers. When I played the game though, hoo-boy, I got addicted.(And I lost it =(
Anyways, it has a HUGE open world, cool characters, an awesome soundtrack, and an amazing story. This game was so good, that not only was Shulk in the new smash bros., his game was remade for the New Nintendo 3ds XL, AND they made a sequel on the Wii U.
  • Pokemon Sun and Moon are overrated

Pokemon Sun and Moon are overrated
Pokemon White, in my opinion, was the best Pokemon game. It had a great story, great pokemon, awesome started, and team Plasma is the best evil team in pokemon. Plus, and this is a fact, Pokemon White and Black is the best selling game in the Pokemon franchise. I mean, Pokemon X isn't bad, but it wasn't the best. Plus, team flare sucked.
I'm not gonna play Pokemon Sun or Moon.
  • The new tipping point

    The new tipping point
Ahh, the start of the next generation.
    The 3DS.
The games made for this system is insane. And I'm not talking about popular games either. Indie creators actually make their own small games and sell it on Eshop, like the game Legend of Dark Wtich. Plus, as time passed, more and more games kept coming in, like Fire Emblem Awakening, Super Smash Bros, Pokemon (even though it kept getting dumber,) and so much more! In the end, the 3DS may be nintendo's greatest achievement yet.
    RIP Satoru Iwata.
  • Screw Legos

    Screw Legos
Minecraft is a very popular game that still runs strong to this day. Heck, even TellTale made a game out of Minecraft.
This game is simple, but it's so pleasant. You literally do whatever you want. It's pretty much the kid version of GTA, but better. But in my opinion, the thing that makes this game so popular is how addicting it is. You could spend hours on it without stopping.
  • Waifu wars

    Waifu wars
Actually, this is what really got me into gaming.
Fire Emblem Awakening is one of the best RPG games ever, period. Awesome soundtrack, awesome characters, awesome story, awesome everything! There were few flaws in that game, one being that your choices didn't matter, but still.
Then again, this is a good example of waifu wars..... Huh.
  • Does anybody still remember the commercials for it's games?

Does anybody still remember the commercials for it's games?
The Wii U was and still is a big success for Nintendo. The new system introduced a new playing field, the games for it are awesome. They even made a Wii U plus, which is the same as a 3ds XL. Also, gamers can use Wii discs to play on the Wii U, and on the Eshop, people can download games from NES to SNES. It's great, considering it was made only a year after the 3ds.
  • Another one

    Another one
The Playstation 4 is like the nintendo DS. They won't stop making more.
But honestly, the PS4 does have some great achievements. Aside from better quality and all that stuff, the games they produced are great, and sometimes, pretty awesome. There's Overwatch, which I have never played, Until Dawn, aka every horror movie ever, the upcoming Persona 5, and Uncharted 4, which I still need to finish.
  • Seriously, STOP, MAKING THESE!!!

    Seriously, STOP, MAKING THESE!!!
Five Nights at Freddy's, the 1st game with more horror than all of the Resident Evils combined.
Granted, the complex story behind these games are phenomenal, but 1. It's horror, and I hate horror, 2. He's a troll, and 3. He made 4 games in a year.
Still, I won't deny he's a great game developer, and he has made a name for himself, so cheers for him.
  • Enjoyed the 3ds? Good, cause here's another one

Enjoyed the 3ds? Good, cause here's another one
All jokes aside, this is another big achievement Nintendo made. Not only are there awesome games on this system, it has the capabilities of downloading SNES games, like Earthbound. Plus, with it's new C stick, they were able to recreate games that were made for other consoles, like Xenoblade chronicles.
So even though this IS the 4th installment to the 3ds family, it is no less greater than the other systems.
  • Bloody murder! ....No seriously, call the police.

Bloody murder! ....No seriously, call the police.
Ever heard of a game called Yandere Simulator? Well, you at least know what Yandere means, right? If not, use google.
Anyways, this game isn't actually complete. It's been in development for nearly 2 years now, and still will take maybe a decade more!
I honestly feel like Yanderedev, the creator, is an important figure because of how far it's come. Look at where it first was, then see where the game is now. It's almost like going from the NES to the Wii U. So that's why he's a big gaming figure.
  • Waifu wars: 3 in 1 pack

Waifu wars: 3 in 1 pack
People were SO HYPED for this game when the trailer came out, and it was not a dissapointment. Sure, it had it's flaws, but 1 thing people can confirm is: It will rip your heart out.
Still, it has great characters, a good story, and a pretty good soundtrack. Even the DLC stories were amazing, and also ripped my heart out.
Basically, this is an RPG feels game.
  • Playing this will either make you happy, or make you feel lower than dirt

Playing this will either make you happy, or make you feel lower than dirt
The game Undertale is a world-wide known title, as is the game/
This is an RPG, but what makes it unique is that your decisions affect the game. If you kill someone, than it'll be like actual murder, and shape the game. You can be their savior, or their executioner. Or maybe, the other way around....
Seriously though, amazing game. Plus, with how much fanbase it has, it'll live until the end of time.
  • I hate trends

    I hate trends
This was a long trend, pokemon go. I get it, they wanted people to get outside, but it made people get a bit carried away when going to certain places because there was a pokemon there. Plus, people said that the service was often down. Then there was the war between which team was better. In the end, this was just another trend that died. Long live Pokemon Black and White.
