Avatars for the first time
Avatars:In Pong and the first video games, the player plays as a representation of themselves, or just controlled an object. Some years later game developers started to add avatars to their games. Exploration
A new gaming breakthrough was exploration. In earlier games, there was only one set area. The first exploration games allowed the player to navigate in the world of the game. The earliest example of this is Colossal Caves 1975. -
First Person
In newer games in the 1980s first person became extremely popular. This allowed the player to be in the point of view of the character they are playing. This is one of the most popular styles of video games to date. It was first popular in 1980. -
Online Gaming
Online gaming(xbox live, playstation network). Online gaming allows players from all over the world to compete in the same game or tournament. Online gaming started in 1996 with a game called Quake. The server was very laggy and most players had a hard time connecting. The developers worked to make a more fluent server. -
Modern Product: Xbox 360 slim/kinect
Xbox 360 is a modern gaming console with wireless controllers. The complex hd games (online, and singleplayer) it offers attract many to the console. It also allows the user to stream movies, listen to music, and going on social networking cites. The console has an attachment called kinect. Kinect uses motion sensors to program your motions into the game. Basically you are the controller. Gaming has come a long way since PONG.
