The Magnavox Odyssey was released to the public and let people bring home a console. Its design was off of the Brown Box by Ralph Baer. it was also sold over seas. -
Competition
A new video game console is on the market called the Atari 2600. It has many games on it like Space Invaders and Donkey Kong. The Atari company was very successful in this. -
The Fall
Atari releases a game called E.T based on a move for the console. The game is hated by the community and no one wanted it. They had to bury all the cartridges in the desert. -
The Everywhere Console
Nintendo releases a new console called the Game boy in the summer. It allows people to play anywhere. You can take it wherever you want and it doesn't need a T.V. -
Breaking up
Nintendo and Sony team up to make a console. Sony believes that Nintendo is stalling the console and decide to pursue it alone. The entire reason for teaming up was to get a foot hold in that industry. -
New Generation
Sony releases the Playstation and it brings a new era of technology. It has games on CDs and is able to store a lot more advanced games. Games now have polygons and 3D textures. -
Online
Sega releases the Dreamcast console. It was the first to let people play from inside their houses and not have to go to your friend's house. This was their first successful product from a number of failures. -
A new competitor
Microsoft releases their new console "the Xbox". It brings shooters into a more popular game. It also has multiplayer and online gameplay -
Tournaments
People are now playing video games as competitive. They compete in big games and earn a lot of money. The many games are Dota, CSGO, and League of Legends.
