  • The "Brown Box"

    This was said to be the first distributed home console. They called this console the Magnavox Odyssey or the "Brown Box" . It was able to pump out 28 games before it was fizzled out by other home consoles.

    The first video game to be created. It was created on the Atari machine. It was a very simple concept on which two players would hit a pong with a sliding bar and attempt to hit it into the opponents side.
  • The Atari Console

    This was one of the early, popular, consoles that could be affordable and reliable to the public. It only costed around $200. It was a stepping stone for many other consoles to release.
  • Nintendo Entertainment System

    Nintendo Entertainment System
    A powerful, more advanced console was released in 1983. They called this console the NES, or the Nintendo entertainment system. It made more strides than the consoles before, turning the pixels into many more and turning up the frame output.
  • The playstation 2

    This decade is when consoles were putting games into crazy effects. The Playstation 2, and many other consoles like it, started to introduce 3D characters and level design. This console generation started to ramp the price up to $300 dollars. This console was more focused on story games than other consoles.

    Just a year later, the original Xbox came out. This thus spawned a whole console war between Playstation, Xbox, and PC. Xbox was more based around multiplayer first-person shooters. This also costs $300.

    The next major generation of consoles came in and they sure did advance in technology. The major focus of the playstation 4 was that it focused more on the graphics side and put more development towards their exclusive games, to pull people to buy their consoles. They sold at a hefty price of $400 dollars, but the graphics compared to xbox excelled and were no match to the playstation.
  • Xbox One

    This console was more focused on the business side of things compared to its opponent playstation. They started off with the same price $400, but made more strides with its customers by giving out deals instead of great games. They convinced many companies to work with them on deals, one of the biggest was Disney and they included Disney plus with their monthly subscriptions.
  • The Playstation 5

    The Playstation 5
    The most recent and newest console for this generation is The Playstation 5. The digital version cost $400 and the Disc version cost $500. It's made an amazing trailer with adaptive feedback to the controller and more pixels on the screen for graphics.
  • Xbox Series X

    Xbox Series X
    The Xbox Series X release before the PlayStation, as both were waiting to see each of their prices but in the end, release the same price anyway. The Xbox Series X costs $500 and The Xbox Series S cost $300. They made the load times amazing and instant play, in which you could continue from where you left your game to the second.
