1931 pinball machine
in the 1930s technology was still years away from what we would now call a video game. Although video games were not possible at the time in 1931 Raymond t. Maloney invented the "Bally Hoo" pinball machine. as the first pinball machine the bally hoo machine had no flippers or bumpers, and no single hole at the bottom of the playing field. -
1947 Cathode-Ray Tube Amusement Device
Although pong is thought of as the first electronic video game, their was another 1 year before Alan Alcorn was born. In January 1947 Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr. and Estle Ray Mann Patented their invention, the Cathode-Ray Tube Amusement Device. Goldsmith Jr. and Mann's invention was inspired by a radar display and was both the first video game, and the first video game based on World War II. -
1952 OXO
in 1952 a.s. Douglass created his game "oxo" or as we currently know it, "tik-tak-toe". The game ran on a EDSAC computer at Douglass' university. Douglass created OXO as part of his collage thisis. -
1967 brown box
In 1967, Ralph Baer and colleagues developed a prototype for the first multiplayer video game system, the ¨brown box¨. The brown box could be programmed to play a variety of games by flipping the switches on the front. brown box games included ping-pong, checkers, sports games, a target shooting and a golf game. -
1972 pong
in 1972 Nolan Bushnell and Al Alcorn developed the arcade game pong. pong was published by Atari as one of the first video games it helped launch the industry. in 1972 Atari sold over 8000 pong machines. in 1975 was turned into Pong a console system game. -

in 1980 Toru Iwatani crated the PAC-MAN game for for his employer bandai namco. two years later the gender swapped version mission pac-man was released. as of 2016 pac-man games have made 14 billion dollars and sold 43 million copies -
1996 Pokemon
in 1996 game freak created the game Pokemon red. Pokemon red would go on to birth the highest goosing video game franchise. with 122 official Pokemon games and more on the way, Pokemon red was the birth of an entire franchise. -
2001 xbox
on November 15, 2001 the original Xbox was released to the public. the original Xbox was Microsoft´s entrance into the video game market with games like Halo: Combat Evolved and GTA 3. the Xbox series of consoles is currently one of the most popular console series with the Xbox on earning 48.69 million dollars. -
2011 Minecraft
on November 18, 2011 Minecraft, created by Markus Persson or ¨notch¨, was released. with over 200 million copies sold minecraft is the second highest game ever sold only behind tetris. after 10 years minecraft has earned multiple hundreds of millions every year after its release. -
2020 E3 cancelled
because of the covid-19 pandemic the gaming E3 was cancelled for 2020. for its lifespan the event E3 has always been a very important event in gaming. for the 15 years it has been running E3 has not missed a year until 2020 but will likely return 2021 and onward.
