Odyssey
The Magnavox Odyssey was the first home video game console created. It was manufactured by Magnavox. It was developed by Ralph Baer. -
Game & Watch
Game & Watch was one of the first handheld consoles. It was created by Nintendo. It would be discontinued in 1991 but the character Game & Watch is still used to this day. -
Pac-Man
The release of Pac-Man was very successful. It became the highest grossing game at the time, reaching $1 billion worldwide. The game was developed by Namco. -
PlayStation
The first PlayStation was released in Japan a year before anywhere else in the world. It was developed by Sony. It would go on to create the PlayStation home console line. -
PlayStation 2
The PlayStation 2 was the next installment in the PlayStation lineup. It was better than it's older counterpart. It would go on to be the best selling console of all time. -
Xbox
The first Xbox was developed by Microsoft. It was the first major console produced by an American company since the Atari Jaguar. It would go on to create the Xbox home console line. -
Minecraft
Minecraft was developed by Mojang. It is the current best-selling game of all time. It has been released on many platforms and is still very popular today. -
PS5 and Xbox Series X
The release of the next-gen consoles occurred in 2020. The two consoles are competitors in the home console market. Both released at a base price of $500.
