  • The first game, Pong, is created and released.

    Physicist William Higinbotham released a simple tennis game, named Pong.

  • Spacewar is created and released

    Steve Russell, as well as some others created Spacewar which ended up inspiring many of the first commercial arcade games.

  • Computer Space is created and released

    Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney created Computer Space which became the first official arcade game, and was directly based off of Space War, with coin-operated functions.

  • Galaxy Game is created and released.

    Bill Pitts and Hugh Tuck release Galaxy Game, also one of the first official arcade games,which was based off of Space War.

  • The Magnavox Odyssey Games is released

    The Magnavox Odyssey, the first home gaming console, was created and released by Ralph H.Baer and his team. It included games like Table Tennis, Ski, Simon Says, Etc.

  • Pong is created and released.

    While working for Atari, Allan Alcorn released Pong, and it quickly became an immediate success.
