Great Britain had swore to defend Belgium's sovereignty they issued a deal to Germany on August 4, 1914 ordering Germany to give them German troops by a certain time when this deal expired Great Britain and Germany went to war. When Great Britain went to war, so did all of the British empire including Canada and an independent colony of Newfoundland. The statue of Westminster was a British law that was made on december 11, 1931. It was Canada's all but last achievement. This law made it where Canada and other commonwealth countries get the respect equal to Britain.
