    Founding of the first colony
    The first colonists had made it to the New World with many hopes. They established the first colony in Jamestown Virginia.
  • Tobacco

    Tobacco
    Tobacco was possibly one of the biggest business aspects in the economy of the New World. The Native Americans had shown them Tobacco. Infact Tobacco played such an important factor it was the first thing the House of Burgesses met about.
  • The PA Dutch

    The PA Dutch
    William Penn had posted invitations to Pennsylvania over the walls of Germany, promising religious freedom, and a comfortable lifestyle with economic opportunities. English speaking Americans had misunderstood the word Deutsch, (German in German) and thus they became the Pennsylvania Dutch. They had brought a new culture and a new religion with them. The Pennsylvania Dutch are now commonly known as the Amish

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre is considered one of the first battles of the revolutionary war by some historians. There were five casualties caused by the gunfire from British Soldiers trying to calm down a protest.

    The Declaration of Independence was the document that announced to the world that the thirteen colonies had separated from the British Empire. It was not only legalistic but also practical. Americans hoped to get support from other nations that had feuds with the British Empire.

    The Treaty of Paris had declared peace. That meant independence for the colonists. In the Treaty of Paris, Britain gave independence to the Americans and specified where their land ended. This was victory for the Americans.

    The constitution has finally been approved off of a similar model that Massachusetts used for its state laws. After years of fighting the Patriots have won.

    Eli Whitney had made considerably the most important invention for the industry. He created a mechanical cotton gin that basically comb's through the cotton separating it from its seeds.

    Thomas Jefferson, the third president was elected on this day. He was destined to improve our country so much, he started the Lewis and Clark expedition and made peace with Federalists and brought the citizens of America together

    On this day Lewis and Clark started their expedition for westward expansion. If Thoman Jefferson hadn't encouraged this expedition most of our country would remain unknown.

    The Indian Removal Act was genocide that was commited by Andrew Jackson. He forced over 20,000 Native Americans to relocate to the west, where they would still be harassed, and on the way at least a quarter of them died.

  • The Nullification Controversy

    The Nullification Controversy
    The Southerners couldn't pay their tariffs, so they decided to nullify the tariff. Andrew Jackson acted quickly and had gathered troops, he scared the Southerners and they came to a compromise. Because of this compromise, the Southerners backed down shamelessly. This was possibly one of the greatest moments of Andrew Jacksons political career, he had prevented secession.

    In January of 1848, someone had found gold in one of Californias streams. Rumors were spread and many people across the country came to California. Immigrants from Europe had also heard. Another German Jewish man had came to California and had invented trousers for the miners, these trousers still exist today known as jeans

    The Publishing of "Uncle Tom's Cabin"
    On this day the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" which was authored by Harriet Beecher Stowe was published. It caused a huge uproar. It spoke for the abolishment of slavery.
  • The Kansas-Nebraska Act

    The Kansas-Nebraska Act
    This act divided a region from the Louisiana purchase for each side, and each side would decide if it were a Free State or a Slave State. Kansas was a Slave State, people that were Pro-Slavery and Anti-Slavery settled in the state. This caused violence of course and is one of the main events that led to the Civil War

  • Gettysburg

    Gettysburg
    One of the biggest battles of the Civil War, in this war over 170,000 and over 40,000 lost their lives. General Robert E. Lee had lost 28,000 soldiers from Gettysburg. The war went on for two more years, but the Confederates were nearing a defeat.

  • Thirteenth Amendment

    Thirteenth Amendment
    The Thirteenth Amendment was passed and it simply outlawed slavery. Even though slavery was outlawed oppression against African Americans hadn't stopped, but the Thirteenth Amendment was a step towards stopping oppression and giving equality to African Americans
  • The KKK

    The KKK
    The KKK, a hate group was formed and it posed and poses a huge threat to African Americans. They were a group committed to oppressing and denouncing the African Americans after the civil war. They lynched, raped, and murdered African Americans
