    The Proposal to end the strike?
    Verizon executives sent a proposal to the union that was suppose to end the strike before it got worse. The proposal included wage increases, guaranteed job security, and receiving pension benefits. Another part of the proposal includes time off, disability, and better retirement benefits. The union rejected the proposal and extended the strike.

    Discovery in the Philippines
    After a 4 day visit to he Philippines; members of the CWA discovered a part of a bigger problem: the call centers in the Philippines that were handling outsourced customer calls from the US. The CWA representatives also found out that the personnel in the Philippines are paid $1.78 an hour and no compensation. As those representatives were leaving, they were met by the armed security of Verizon.
    They were allowed to leave.

    The strike lingers on as day 30 is reached. The workers that are on strike now no longer have health benefits. There is no end in sight as both sides continue to fight.
