  • Meeting the Estates General

    Meeting the Estates General
    In 1789, after 175 of the forgotten assemblage, Louis XIV had agreed to bring back the Estates General, or parliament representing all parts of society in France. They met at Versailles and the disputes began. The picture provided shows a drawing of how the event looked like at the time of the meeting and what the environment looked like, as well as the number of people that attended.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    The medieval fortress in Paris called the Bastille was a prison in Paris. It represented royal authority. At this time, July 14 1789 the Bastille was stormed by an angry mob. The governor of the building was seized and killed due to his carelessness. The picture shown, is a drawing greatly representing the towers of the bastille and how the revolution fighters were breaking out on it.

    The last article fo the declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen was adopted on August 26, 1789 by the National Constituent Assembly. The picture shows the actual paper of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen.

    Over 7,000 working women marched with pitchforks and muskets in the rain from Paris to Versailles. This event intensified the French Revolution greatly. The image provided shows many women holding spears, axes, scythes, and a cannon going against the French Government and women's rights.

    On April 20, 1792 the National Assembly of France declared war on Austria. They thought it would spread the genuine ideas of the Revolution. The image shows the French beginning to go against the Austrian army. You can also see a man holding a French Flag.

    King Louis XVI was exectued for treason and trying to flee the country. Once found, they took him back to the "Revolution Square" in Versaille and he was executed by a guillatine. The picture provided is a drawing of a man in front of a guillatine hlding Louis XVI headin his hand and some blood dripping from the freshly cut head.

    Beginning of the Reign of Terror
    The Reign of Terror began in September 5 1793. It was a time of great violence between the Jacobins and the Girondins. They fought and soon followed a great series of executions, whether people were innocent or not. The picture shown is a painting of the what the square looked like at the time of the Reign of Terror. Of course the guillatine is there and a man is about to be executed. This was a common event in the reign of terror which finally ended in July 27, 1794.

    Maximilien Robespierre is Executed
    Robespierre's increasing violence upon people and the amount of lives he has taken was not to be coped with. He was arrested by the National Convention, and was convicted of executing thousands (over 17,000) of people in the French Revolution. The picture provided shows minutes away from Robespierre's execution by his own favorite torture device, the guillatine.

    Napoleon Crowns himself as Emperor
    Considering Napoleon was a great general and strong fighter, after many years of consideration and family and friends' thoughts, he finally decided to declare himeself the Emperor of France. He was a strong leader and won against many wars. The picture shown, is a painting of Napoleon wearing his new outfit as he has crowned himself the Emperor of France and soon led France into a brief age of enlightment, helping France defeat other nations.

    Napoleon Retreats from Russia
    Napoleon thought that Russia was planning an invasion against France, so he decided to attack first. Once he got there he won, but two thirds of his soldiers died from the Russian winter in Moscow. The picture provided shows Napoleon's army retreating from Moscow in snow on horses. The winter cold had struck them by surprise.

    The Congress of Vienna was a conference among the European States chaired by Austrian Statesman, Klemens Wenzel von Metternich and was held in Vienna, now known as the capital of Austria. The picture shows the leaders of European states all met up and sitting together, discussing governments and wars.

    The Battle of Waterloo/Napoleon's 2nd Abdication and Exile
    The Battle fo Waterloo took place in Belgium on a Sunday. It marked the final defeat of the great reigning Napoleon of France. After a series of winning wars, European countries teamed up to finally defeat France and Napoleon once and for all. The picture shown represents the tragic battle in motion as people were slaughtered and buildings burned down.
